Scattered IllusionsJekrid stumbled backwards a step or two. He suddenly realized his mouth was agape.Scattered Illusions
The group of three guards blurred, turning into six, then three, then six again.
The assassin clapped a hand to the center of his chest, and was, oddly, somewhat startled to feel his own warm blood gushing out of the likely mortal wound. Jekrid lurched forwards slightly again, and for a split second he saw the rapidly darkening (and expanding) stain on his vest. He tried to curse, but for some reason the words couldn't get out.
Suddenly Jekrid Alaun was aware that the side of his face was pressing into the cold metal

RejectionRejection.Rejection
The phone handset hung limp in her hand, the resounding click still echoing in her ears. After a long moment, she managed to bring herself to hang up the stubbornly silent phone, and turn away. She felt numb to the rest of the world, that one crucial sound still repeating in her head, and again, and again.
What did I do wrong?

| Winning entry "I love stories that are resolved by still leave you wondering what might happen next. It also has to be commended when a writer can express a character you created better than you can. I have a difficult time writing for Ebony, but *tiraldan took to it with ease. Rather than use a myth to tell a story - she uses myth as a bards creative way to make a subtle jab into a point. It's enjoyable to read even if you don't know the characters. You're introduced to them and their personalities in such a way it can simply be enjoyed as a stand alone story that flows with clear purpose, leaving you with something to think about." =AzraelEvangeline |

Exchange 1, 2: And batty, too. With narrowed eyes, Eren moved to unlatch yet another box that was drifting inconspicuously down the conveyor belts with an accompanying creak of gear movement. It was metal, the second one like it Eren had seen.Exchange 1, 2: And batty, too.
She flicked open the latch and the top flipped up with a bang. A haze of at least five bats took off, screeching their terror to the world. Eren recoiled, if only slightly, and resisted the urge to skewer them in their flight. This wasnt the first batty package shed opened. She doubted it would be the last, either. That package of OxiClean had been her warning that the competition might not be as serious as s

Exchange 1, 1: That's funny. The door slammed shut behind the two unfortunate soul-hunters. A bare breath of cool air dove in behind them before the atmosphere warmed and a faint clicking and squeaking of mechanical things was heard. Eren, already looking around in the near-black, could see the faint shine of some sort of camera lens. She squinted a little at it, removing her gun from its place at her waist and aiming it down towards the floor in readiness.Exchange 1, 1: That's funny.
Redrick turned around slowly, face upturned as he tried to make out anything, anything at all. Being human like everyone else he had ever met, it wasnt easy for him. He briefly reflected that that w

Pain of Loss, Agony of LoveIt was raining. There was mud and blood everywhere. In the middle of the battle field were two figures. Closer inspection revealed them to be Jedi Padawans. Bant Eerin knelt in the mud, her head resting against Obi-Wan Kenobis shoulder as she sobbed. They had already taken the body away.Pain of Loss, Agony of Love
Obi-Wan hugged Bant closer to him, her cheek pressed against his chest and her body shaking. He bent his head in response to the onslaught of the driving rain, unable to distinguish between the freezing downpour and the bitter tears of the Mon Calamari huddled close. Mud-spattered, he blinked rainwater from his grey eyes, shifting uncomfort
